Foam Concrete Specifications

Foam concrete BIS CODES

IS 2185 (Part 4) 2008: For masonry,

IS 6598 (1972): Cellular concrete for thermal insulation.

Foam concrete mix design

The foam concrete’s mix designs varies depends its applications, density requirements and compressive strength requirements. The basic rule of the foam concrete is the cement content of the foam concrete will be above 50 % of the foam concrete weight and it goes up to 75 to 80 percent based on applications. The fine aggregates are fly ash and sand can be used and the foaming agents are used to create foam and the foam used as the filler of the foam concrete which reduces the density as well as the cause of the thermal insulation.

Foam concrete's compressive strength

The compressive strength of this light weight floor filling material is determined by the density of the light weight foam concrete. The higher density provides higher compressive strength vice versa lower density provides the lower compressive strength. Though depends the application and mix design we can provide the site demanding density and crushing strength .The compressive strength varies from 2 n/mm2 to 10 n/per mm2.

R value of the Foam Concrete Resistance

R-Value scales the light weight concrete’s thermal resistance and how well it prevents the flow of the heat. In simpler terms, it indicates how well the material prevents heat flow. The foam concrete’s r value is around 0.1 per inch to 0.2 per inch which is the best r value which will resist the heat flow inside the buildings. We JB International largest light weight foam concrete supplier in India accurately ensures the Optimum R value as per The architectural demands.

U value of Foam Concrete

The low density foam concrete U-Value is  0.25 BTU/hourft²°F. This represents very high insulation where the high density foam concrete u value is 1 BTU/hourft²°F. Comparatively both are very good insulation value compared to any building materials.

Acoustics Value

Foam concrete is constructed by numerous evenly distributed independent closed-cells therefore; its noise reduction noise ability is 0.09-0.19%. It is 5 times better than its counterpart, normal cement products. It is a solution for noise irritation. It is capable of achieving Sound Reduction Index (Rw) values of 40–55 dB depending on thickness and density

Shrinkage and Cracking Behavior of Foam Concrete Over Time

Foam concrete exhibits lower shrinkage compared to traditional concrete due to its unique cellular structure. However, shrinkage can occur during the drying phase, especially in low-density mixes. Proper curing techniques significantly reduce shrinkage and associated cracking. Typically, shrinkage strains range between 0.1% and 0.2% over time.

Flowability and Pumpability Characteristics of Foam Concrete

Foam concrete is highly flowable and self-leveling, making it easy to pump and place without mechanical vibration. Its low viscosity allows it to flow into tight spaces, filling complex molds and voids effortlessly. Foam concrete can be pumped up to 300 meters horizontally and up to 150 meters vertically with proper pumping systems.

Compatibility with Reinforcement and Surface Finishing Materials

As a cement product ,Foam concrete is compatible with steel reinforcements, Deck slabs ,floor screeds and sunken fillings, with good bonding strength. Above 600 kg/cbm density is recommended when using rebars, mesh, or fibers for structural strength. Surface finishes like plastering, screeding, and waterproof coatings adhere well due to foam concrete’s slightly rough texture.

Foam Concrete Price

Foam concrete price is 5250 per cubic meter though depends on several key factors, mainly density, project location, and local site conditions. while higher-density structural grades are priced higher due to material and strength requirements. Location affects transportation, labor, and raw material availability, leading to price variations across different cities. Local site conditions, such as pumping height, accessibility, and special mix needs, can also influence final costing. At JB International, we offer competitive, customized pricing based on your project’s exact specifications, ensuring maximum value for your investment.

Location and Foam Concrete Price

Foam concrete price per cubic meter is 5250 Rs per cubic meter and varies slightly as the differences in cement and building material costs based on the project location due to differences in material availability. Though it is not more than 3 to 5 percent based on transportation costs, and local site conditions. The retention amount of the clients, mathadi and varai of the local areas will affect the foam concrete price slightly. The project size is also the major factor of the foam concrete price.

Density and Foam Concrete Price

Foam concrete price is also influenced by the required density of the mix. Lower densities (such as 300–600 kg/CBM) use more foam and less cement, making them more economical. Higher densities (up to 1600 kg/CBM) require more cementitious material, increasing the cost per cubic meter. Customized densities for specialized applications may also carry a slight premium based on material formulation and strength requirements.

Pumping and Foam Concrete Price

The price of foam concrete can change depending on the pumping height and horizontal distance at the project site. JB International is uniquely equipped to pump foam concrete up to 45 floors, but higher pumping requirements may involve additional charges for specialized equipment, manpower, and setup. Ground-level or low-rise projects are more cost-effective, while high-rise projects require customized pumping solutions, affecting the final delivered price per CBM slightly.
